What does your wife want for Valentine’s Day?

Are you considering flowers? Chocolates? A nice dinner?

All solid choices, but so 2019. Let’s 2020 this Valentine’s Day. Here are some things you can do for your wife this year:

1. Write her a letter.

That’s right. Skip the card that you pick up on the drive home from work and instead write her a letter in your own handwriting about why you love her.

2. Watch her favorite movie together.

Even if it is The Sound of Music. The hills will be alive in your home, and your wife will love you for it.

3. Massage her feet.

Yes, even if you hate feet.

4. Play with her hair.

Get your mind out of the gutter. I literally mean, play with her hair. Brush it and run your fingers through it. You can do this while you watch The Sound of Music.

5. Take it up a notch.

Blow-dry her hair to the best of your ability. We love it when our hair is played with or blow-dried by someone else’s hands. Just be careful she doesn’t fall asleep!

6. Do the things.

You know that honey to-do list you’ve been avoiding? Get it done.

7. Leave notes.

Surprise her by writing on the visor mirror of her car that she’s beautiful.

8. Make her something.

It can be a reading bench, or it can be as simple as dinner after the kids go bed. Whatever it is, take your time with it. She’ll notice.

9. Buy flowers.

Get her flowers AND get flowers for the elderly lady on your street who’s a widow. Major brownie points when she sees you do that.

10. Send her something.

Buy her a year’s worth of her favorite coffee or wine to be delivered straight to the house. It’s literally the gift that keeps on giving.

11. Ask an artist to sketch her, like one of those French girls.

You can watch Titanic after.

12. Play a game with her.

Do you know how you keep avoiding learning how to play chess? Learn.

13. Get creative.

Write out 14 ideas for 14 dates you plan to take her on this year.

14. Dance FOR her.

Even if you have two left feet. Come up with a dance and do it for her.

15. Dance WITH her.

Even if you have two left feet. Dance with her. Fist pump if you sign up to take a dance class with her.

16. Do a photoshoot.

Hire a photographer and book a photo session for you two at a particular spot. Maybe where you first met or where you went on your first date. Most men avoid photo shoots, but not you! She will be so surprised she won’t even know what to say.

17. Amp it up.

If you book the session, book someone to do her hair and make-up. Her shock will be amplified by a hundred that you planned all of this.

18. Hire help.

Hire someone to do a deep cleaning of your home, then tell her she has the day off to do whatever she wants.

19. Take her to a local venue to hear live music.

Set it up with the band or performer beforehand to have them give her a special shout-out or play her favorite song.

20. Go big.

You know that ridiculously expensive thing she wants? That thing that, in a million years, she would never buy herself because she thinks of you, the kids, the house, the dog, and everyone in the world before herself . . .

Buy her that thing.
